Set a Password to protect your Windows 7 beta account

Windows 7 beta doesn’t need to create a login password while installing. You can secure PC by strong password protecting it manually.

Note: This post is not for the geeks (aka. advanced users).

I'm sure many of you now need to install Windows 7 and have started to love it, as only the version looks pretty solid and some UI eye-candy.windows7logo

About Windows 7 beta installation, I am noticed that it didn’t ask for an Administrator account login password while installing. All it asked was the username. Now, considering this is a beta version it is understandable that the final version of Windows 7 looks a lot different than the beta in terms of fixing these corners.

If you’ve installed Windows 7 Beta and didn’t realize of this threat, make sure to secure account with a strong password. The process of setting up password is pretty much the same as Windows Vista.

Step-1: Control Panel

1

Click on the Start button and then click on Control Panel.

Step-2: User Accounts and Family Safety

2

Click on User Accounts and Family Safety option.

Step-3: User Accounts

3

Click on the User Accounts option. You can also click on the Change your Windows Password option. If you do then you skip Step-4.

Step-4: Create a password for your user account

4

Click on the Create a password for your account option. Note that since we haven’t assigned any password yet (the default Windows 7 Beta behavior) you can see on the right side of the above screenshot that it doesn’t say anything about password protection for the account.

Step-5: Assign a Password

5

Assign a password on this screen and type-in a Password Hint for you to get reminded of your password if you forget your password in the future. Click on the Create Password button.

6

Once you assign a password to your account, a Password Protected message appears just below your username, as you can see on the above screenshot, to indicate that this account is password protected.

This is all about. This is a basic thing that can get overlooked and can cause problems if your computer to share above all. I'm sure the other versions will fix it, but wanted to make only point out this behavior in Windows 7

IE9 under a leaf from the book Windows 7

Microsoft has taken a leaf on Windows 7, the book in the development of opening Internet Explorer 9 - with the software giant things in advance to give the community an opportunity to educate the next generation of its browser .

With a market share of Internet Explorer drag, but the adoption of IE8 still encouraging for the company, Microsoft wants to teach the positive buzz from the open beta of Windows 7 in the world learned more are created increasingly competitive browsers.

Speaking to TechRadar, senior director of Internet Explorer, Ryan Gavin, explained that early glimpses into IE9 are keeping him happy.

"One of the things we [Microsoft Developers Conference MIX] has provided the overview of the Internet Explorer Platform 9," said Gavin.

"That's the first time we've done it in the history of Internet Explorer. It's not the not full browser but it's just the underlying components."

Early adoption

"This is essentially allowing developers to the standards we are adopting some of the new capacity is seen to begin, how come the new JavaScript engine and experiment really, at first.

"This change of approach is something that we started with MIX with the first release – we committed to updating it every eight weeks and the feedback on this change of approach has been amazing."

We have speed tests at the beginning, shows the closure of Microsoft, but still slower than its main competitors in the famous SunSpider JavaScript test, but believes that Gavin real-time navigation performance IE9 the Directors will, without giving a strong message about the security underlying messaging his predecessor.

"You can expect our focus and leadership on privacy to accelerate – especially as we push on with IE9," said Gavin.

"It is extremely important, but our way of thinking, you create the top layer IE9 this basis, the amount of experience in developing new and then make the choice not altogether convincing, but incredibly convincing, because you're on a building in a professional."

Three vital things for IE9

"Developers tell us three things; one that performance is incredibly important when you think about those Office web applications and new class of experiences and it's really all round performance and not just speed," adds Gavin.

"The second is interoperability and here there is this notion of same markup; writing your code once and having it work across the web, another very important area that we're looking at.

"And then the third area is to push for a new class of experience on the web with things like hardware acceleration.

"HTML5 really is on the cusp of delivering new experiences on the web – and all of this is underpinned a difference in approach for how we build IE9."

Automatically Login Windows 7 Without Typing user Password

In this tutorial I will tell you how to configure Windows 7 OS to automatically connect without prompting you to enter your login password each time user account. Although in this example can be found on many other sites, we have decided to publish them. The problem with other similar guides is that they are not complete and not to give you all information you need to know. So I will try to guide you through all stages and share them with you all the information you need to know in order not to ruin the computer.

First, open the Run window by pressing the Windows key + R or launch the Command Prompt. Type one of the following two commands: netplwiz.exe or control userpasswords2. No matter which one you use, they have identical results and launch the same window.

Once you run the command, a User Accounts window similar to the one below will launch. There you will see the list of users registered on your PC. Select the user for which you no longer want to type the password in order to log in to Windows 7. Uncheck the option which says 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer' and click on OK.

autologwindows71

Now you will be asked to type right  user password of the user twice. After done, click on OK.

autologonwindows7-2

The next time you will start Windows 7, you will be automatically logged on with the user you just selected. This user will become the default log on user to Windows 7.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

If you have multiple users on your PC, the definition of that definition could be a disadvantage. Windows 7 will still automatically connect to the user that you selected during this procedure. Sign in to join to have another user wait for Windows 7 to boot and connects you automatically to disconnect, then the other user you wish to register. If you set things on how they followed the same procedure and make sure you check the option which says 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer'.

If  this Windows 7 PC has joined a network domain, such as a company network, this procedure will not work. In network domains, the policies regarding the log on procedure are set by the network administrator and cannot be overwritten by users. If you try this on your office computer, there is not way.

Reset Windows 7 Password with Pen Drive

Password01 Most of us have a PC at home and one at work. We use our work PC most of the times and home PC comparatively less. Had it ever happen to you that you forgot your Windows password? Maybe you go for a month long vacations or business trip and when you are back, you may forget some of your passwords to the PC. We tend to have lots of passwords at work, online and at various computers. So to save yourself from a locked out situation, we recommend that you create a password reset disk. In this article, I will share with you a very simple method to create a Windows 7 password reset pen drive. So next time you are locked out of Windows 7 at the login screen, you can plug in this USB pen drive in your computer and reset Windows 7 password.

Windows 7 is the latest public release version of Microsoft Windows, a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, netbooks, tablet PCs, and media center PCs. Windows 7 still using the same encrypt arithmetic as the previous versions of windows. That mean if you need to reset Windows password, you can just use the similar methods like on windows Vista or Windows XP. To create a Windows 7 password reset pen drive, I advice to have a small capacity pen drive which is cheap and you should keep it at a safe place, but not so safe that you forget where you kept it when you need it sometime in future.

Follow these simple steps:

Step 1. Insert a pen drive (backup any data if present on the pen drive and delete everything). Then go to Windows 7 Start Menu and type “create password reset disk” in the start menu search and launch the program “Create a password reset disk” which will be highlighted in the search results.

Step 2. Just follow the simple Password reset wizard as seen below, by selecting the pen drive from a list of drives it will show you. Note: If you have not inserted a pen drive before launching the utility, it will not work and will give an error. If the pen drive is in place, you will see the wizard . It will also ask for your current password to create a password reset pen drive.

Step 3. Now you simple need to keep this drive at a safe place. You can use this in case you forget your Windows 7 Password sometime in future, just click forgotten password on the login screen and choose the option to Reset password after inserting this pen drive into any of the working USB ports of your computer.

NOTE: Windows will honor only the most recent password reset disk that you have created, so in case you happen to create more than one disk, only the one which is latest will work, all other old password reset disk will not be able to reset the Windows password.

If you have not created a reset disk and have forgotten your password, you can still reset the password by using some utilities which is used for Windows 7 password recovery. But these processes maybe tedious, lengthy and may cost you money if you need to buy a software to do that. So to avoid any inconvenience later, we recommend that you create a password reset disk.
